Hello, I am Barbara Fina from Fina Design

I have been avoiding doing a blog for as long as blogs have been around.  Whenever I was asked to do a blog I wondered, would it be too much of a burden, and pull me away from my primary goal, which is running a great design firm?  At this point in my long design career, I have determined that I have a lot to communicate and share about our visual world and I like to write and take photos. So I am launching into INSIDE OUT head first. Be forewarned,

I lead Fina Design, an interiors and landscape design firm based in South Florida doing residential projects from Palm Beach, south to the Miami area, and beyond when someone asks nicely. Our mission is to deliver a cohesive design experience that blurs the line between inside and out. The central core of my method is to begin an open dialog with clients from the start, and then carefully create environments that suit your needs, and sing your song.  

I have been a designer for my entire life. My early affinity for three-dimensional space led me to package design in the earliest days of my career, then information and identity graphics working at an architectural firm in NYC for large corporations.  By 1985 I moved to specialize in large corporate identity and coordinated marketing programs at advertising agencies such as Grey Advertising, serving as their in-house design studio for identity programs. In 1988 I formed a boutique corporate identity and marketing collateral firm Fina Design (Communications) which served both large Fortune 500 clients and well-funded start ups. 

By 2003 I began addressing interior design solutions for my clients, moving toward my life-long passion and focus on the 3D environment. In 2007 I founded, Fina Design, LLC Interiors, focusing exclusively on interior design. A few years after the start of this venture we began doing landscape design to fill the obvious need of controlling and shaping spaces beyond the interior spaces.  Our focus now is envisioning and executing spaces that flow from the second you pull up to your home, as you walk through and live in your home, and beyond as you engage with outdoor living spaces and the views—Inside and Out. Our edge is combining critical project design strategy with each project and a lifetime of honed design management skills. Fina Design's work often includes custom furniture and my unique media walls.

My love of travel, the full spectrum of the arts, entertaining at home, encourage me to take a modern approach to a broad range of design styles, bringing a fresh approach to each project.  I believe that all residential design projects should be about encapsulating your unique style and must achieve essential client objectives in addition to looking great. This is the concept behind design that improves living™  workshops and methodology. I am continuously building knowledge through professional development classes, independent research, and publishing. I have been an active member of ASID, The American Society of Interior Designers for over 10 years.
